Decorating Trends for 2009

I was reading this article on RockyMountainNews.com and found it quite interesting.  "In response to dark times, homeowners are likely to lighten up", writes Lisa Marshall.  The only thing I found upsetting to me is when I read "granite is out".  I love my granite countertops and can't imagine having anything else.  Oh well, I guess I will have to have an outdated kitchen!  :-)

Our retirement accounts and stock portfolios are shriveling, unemployment is on the rise, we're still at war - and the dark, cold days of Colorado winter have only just begun.

What's a down-in-the- dumps homeowner to do to lift that gloomy mood?

Break out the yellow paint, pick up a few bright purple throw pillows and dig around for a brilliant blue blanket. And have you ever considered a red toaster?
